2012 Fisker Karma in Calhoun, GA - $37,900

If the name sounds far-off vaguely familiar, it is because about five years ago there was a new company that was launching a different (for the time) electric car. Unlike the Fisker Karma sedan and Sunset convertible from the doomed Fisker Automotive, the new Karma model has been financed by a Chinese automaker who bought the remains of the former company out of bankruptcy.

With lofty goals that approximate its lofty $130,000 price tag, the Revero is more of an extensively reworked Fisker sedan than anything completely new. This in and of itself is not a bad thing. Now known in the United States and Canada as Karma Automotive and owned by China’s Wanxiang Group, the Revero is a plug-in electric hybrid.
Powered by a General Motors sourced 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine, electric motor and lithium-ion cell battery, the rear-wheel drive Revero has an electric-only range of 50 miles with a total range of 300 miles. The Karma sedan boasts a zero-to-sixty time of 5.4 seconds in Sport mode, not bad for a vehicle that weighs in at about 2 ½ tons.

It also offers new 40-kw DC fast-charge port, which can top up the battery to 80% in 24 minutes. It also will be equipped with Fisker’s solar panel roof, which can generate 200 watts of additional power.
Inside the passenger cabin Karma Automotive has redone the whole dashboard and switchgear.system. The company partnered with Rightware and used the Kanzi UI design software to create the new high-definition cluster and touchscreen. According to Rightware, the new system offers, "a highly responsive and engaging user experience with integrated access to HVAC and Infotainment functions, making them easily accessible with just a few touches. The system runs at a solid 60 frames per second and responds to touch instantly."
