Cars for Sale in Aurora, Colorado
There are 325,078 people living in the city according to the most recent census data. It is one of the three primary cities in the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood Metropolitan Area, so it often gets counted as part of Denver's extended cityscape. Much like the Mile High City, Aurora's elevation is 5,400 feet above sea level, giving it a generally cooler mountain climate. Highs in the summer average 86 degrees, while lows in the winter regularly drop below freezing. It also experiences about a dozen tornado warnings each year, though the majority of those are false alarms or too weak to cause substantial damage.
Aurora's demographic breakdown includes 60% White, 16% Black, and 5% Asian populations. There are also a large number of refugees living in Aurora, to the point of making Aurora a center for Colorado's refugee population (mainly from Asia or Eastern Europe). The overall largest employer in the city is Buckley Air Force Base, which employs 12,000 people. However, in the private sector, healthcare barely beats out military contractors for the largest amount of the city's employment. Three of the top five private employers are healthcare companies, while Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and Lockheed Martin are all also included in the top ten.
Due to its location near Denver, Aurora is able to enjoy some of the perks of that professional sports scene. This includes the NFL's Denver Broncos, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, and the MLB's Colorado Rockies. However, Aurora has plenty of entertainment without its neighbor's influence as well. In addition to more than 100 parks, Aurora manages 6,000 acres of open space and natural areas. There are numerous golf courses, both private and public, and many outdoor trails for hiking or walking. The city's history also includes 26 historic sites, such as the American War Mothers National Memorial Home and the DeLaney Round Barn of 1902.
